Brand new Detroit(nospin) Differential #225s-36

Detroit Lockers have traditionally been considered suitably only for hardcore off-roaders because they were noisy while cornering and they had a reputation for effecting the handling of the vehicle on road. This is no longer the case, they are available only in the newer style, referred to as soft lockers. These have nylon shims in the carrier, which greatly reduce the noise generated. Also in a vehicle with full time four- wheel drive, and longer wheel bases, any handling variations are almost imperceptable. Some of the criticism of these diffs was undeserved, often times in their enthusiasm for additional traction people installed them in front differentials, which is very strongly discouraged. They are for rear diffs only…….. they are extremely reliable and cost effective – I have one, Detroit “soft locker(no spin),” brand new in the box never been opened\ installed. Its specifically for, Land Rover Salisbury Differentials, Defender 110’s, as well as some 109 models.
I sold my 109 before I had a chance to install it and came across it while looking for some different rover parts out in the shop. I don’t know how many people are interested, but they are a breeze to install, I installed one in my 88” with 24 spline axle shafts, and chromoly hubs, and haven’t ran into any problems whatsoever.  That truck has 34” TSL Super Swampers to boot too so, use your imagination. I own a 65 88”, and have been looking for some small stuff, like an overdrive, hahahaha.  But any trade has to really catch my attention.  I’m asking $500, that’s fair for now.  Tractech (Detroit), has since been taken over by Eaton, I have no idea how they have this particular on labeled.  I’ll take a few pictures to go with this novel I’m writing here.  You can email me at: ilykedikes@yahoo.com

is this the exact same model you are running with your 24 spline conversion in the rear of your 88? where did you source the shafts for your conversion?

i am running a detroit nospin, in my 88", but it has the stock rover diff in the rear, which has a different carrier than the salisbury. this locker is designed for the salisbury, essentially a dana60? which im not too familiar with. I bought my axles, and drive flanges from Great Basin Rovers, out of utah.  They also carry this locker, as well as upgraded shafts etc.. but personally i dont have much experience with salisbury diffs. After i installed the locker, 24 spline conversion from gbr for the rover axle, i havent broken a shaft yet, or had any problems, and im running 34 tsl's.

ok, ok, i dont have a salisbury, and still have this wonderful piece of locking machinery....price is goin down to $450.00 Or reasonable trades are considered.  Ideally i was lookin to off this new one and buy a tractech, LSD, for the front end....Arb in the front would be nice, but ill keep dreaming.  Also does anyone have any military rear bumperettes they wanna get rid of, or trade for something , i got a bunch of dismantled parts cars.    ~ thanks

Are you asking $450 or $500.  It's very tempting.  Unfortunately, I'm just about to dump $700+ into engine parts and machine shop work.

EDIT--Never mind--I forgot that I've got this board set up to show posts from oldest to newest--I read them in the backwards order, so your asking price was INCREASING as I read on.

Trade you a LT77 trans and or a D110 front axle or stock Disco 1 3rd members so you can have spares? No idea what you may need....
